Change is within reach – if we have courage, determination, imagination and effective organisation” -Eglantyne Jebb (founder of the struggle for the rights of children since 1919.)

The story of Save the Children is one of hope and deeply passionate and committed people, determined  to make the world a better place for all our children.

A proudly South African entity was formed in 2013 - Save the Children South Africa – to fight for local children’s rights. Save the Children South Africa became an official member of Save the Children International thanks to the merger of Save the Children Gauteng, Save the Children KwaZulu-Natal, Save the Children UK and Save the Children Sweden.

In 2017 Global Communications signed a partnership agreement with Save the Children South Africa to initiate a campaign called “Save the Walkie Talkie” (Save Money, Save a Child).  To launch this initiative, Global Communications donated 30 Kenwood Two Way radios and 1 000 “Charlie” money boxes to 10 schools in the Vhembe and Capricorn districts in Limpopo province as part of the Student Commander programme to improve safety in schools by providing better communications between the staff, security personnel and learners. In 2019 this campaign was extended to designated schools in Ekurhuleni.
